American Steamboat Company Cruises the Mississippi River

A very sharp, well-traveled, upscale 95 year old client requested that I plan a "last"  cruise for him and his two female caregivers. He didn't want anything that would involve long flights and, since he is confined to a wheelchair, I had to come up with something that would work for his particular needs. I selected a one week American Steamboat Mississippi River cruise and added a two night stay in New Orleans pre-cruise. Through the concierge, I was able to arrange two half day private tours; a city tour and a visit to a plantation. He loved both of them and said that the guides couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Regarding the cruise, he could not find enough adjectives (his words) to describe how wonderful everything and everybody was. He raved about the food (and he is a picky eater). He loved the port excursions. The crew went out of their way to create a very special experience for him. They even re-arranged the plumbing in his cabin, bringing in a special shower hose for the bathroom. They didn't want him to miss anything and gave him binoculars to use while on board. I am so grateful to American Steamboat Company as well as the local sightseeing company in New Orleans for making me look so good.
