Celebrity Silhouette Offers Something for Everyone

Well, it's been three days since I disembarked the Celebrity Silhouette and I am still thinking about it! What a wonderful experience and one I would definitely do again. This ship has something for everyone. I boarded the Silhouette in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday and was met by our District Sales Manager for a ship tour. Included in this tour were staterooms and suites, including the Sky Suite, Concierge Suites and AquaClass Suites. Each one more beautiful than the one before it. The rooms and suites are spacious and all have great floor plans. Celebrity utilizes the space very well and they are decorated so nicely. I really like having a view of the ocean from my stateroom and Celebrity has figured out the best way to give guests the most beautiful ocean views. The Sky Suites have wrap around windows with spectacular views everywhere. The AquaClass Suites are perfect for those wanting the total spa experience. These veranda staterooms offer guests spa elements infused into the stateroom experience and priority seating in the exclusive specialty restaurant, Blu. These staterooms offer unlimited access to the Persian Garden (a savings of approximately $170 per couple) as well as a host of other soothing extras. Staterooms guests also have the luxury of their own personal Spa Concierge to arrange their AquaSpa treatments. We had a Veranda Stateroom that was perfect for our needs. The room was spacious and had plenty of storage space. I like to put my things in the drawers and closet and hide my suitcase. There was plenty of room to do this and believe me - I dontt pack lightly! The bathroom has an enclosed shower with plenty of room for tall people. There is even a little footrest to put your foot on while shaving your legs. I really like the fact that you have a sit down vanity in the room and I was able to do my hair and makeup while my boyfriend was showering. The verandah was lovely and a perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee. All of the staterooms and suites on Celebrity Cruises offer 24 hour complimentary room service. The ship has a capacity of 2,886 passengers and was full on our sailing. I have to say, I never felt like there was a crowd. We never waited in line for a restaurant, I never had to wait for equipment in the fitness center and we always got seats for the evening shows. There are lots of places onboard to relax or have a drink that there is just plenty of space for everyone. Let me just say... the food onboard is sensational. I am pretty particular with what I eat and have very high expectations. We had a few dinners at Grand Cuvee (the main dining room) and the menu choices are varied and the food is tasty. Celebrity wants their food to look as good as it tastes, this is part of the Modern Luxury. If you have any dietary needs or restrictions, they are happy to accommodate. I wanted to make some healthy dining choices, so I asked for my fish to be prepared with no oil or butter and it came up perfect every time, never overcooked and was always very tasty. They have specials each day and a few choices that you can get all the time. Their serving sizes are ample, not huge. This way you can try several different things. You won't walk away hungry that is for sure. It is also not a case of quantities of food lacking in quality. The Ocean View Cafe is open for all meals and is buffet style. You can get everything from cereal to homemade omelets for breakfast, salads, sandwiches and pizza for lunch and many hot selections for dinner. At all meals, you can get fruit and other yummy goodies. Coffee, hot tea selections, water and iced tea are always served. The specialty restaurants are an absolute must while onboard. There is a small charge for dining in these restaurants, but it is well worth it. One night we dined as a group at Murano, the French Restaurant. Sitting in the Wine Room, we lingered over a 4 hour dinner which included goat cheese souffle, mushroom risotto, escargot, lobster, Caesar salad, and so much more. This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The service is amazing and the wine pairings are perfect. Just as a fact - the Celebrity Silhouette has 25 Sommeliers onboard. Tuscan Grille is an Italian Steakhouse and is out of this world. It is situated at the back of the ship and has the most breathtaking view. The service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. This is by far one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I would recommend highly. One evening we had dinner at The Lawn Club Grille, which is an interactive restaurant where you can make your own flatbread pizzas and grill your own meats. It is situated near the Lawn Club and has the feel of an outdoor cafe. Remember to save room for dessert here as they have the best blueberry crumble with vanilla ice cream. Qsine is a fun spot for dinner and is a tapas restaurant. The menu is on an iPad and you navigate through that to place your order. The food is served in unique ways, such as popcorn shrimp is served in popcorn boxes and the chocolate dipped strawberries are served in a field of greens and are called Strawberry Fields Forever. The alternative dining restaurants do have a small surcharge; however it is well worth it. If you went to any of these restaurants on land, you would certainly be paying more. I would recommend buying a Dining Package, where you get a certain amount of specialty restaurants in the package. That combined with a drink package gives it a more all-inclusive feel. The entertainment onboard is fun and creative. The theatre has a different show each night and there are always two different show times per night. This gives everyone a chance to see the show regardless of when they are dining. One night we saw an aerial Cirque de Soleil type show, one night was a comedy show and another was all music. There is also a smaller theatre that they do some other shows as well. They are now featuring the Sin City show, which is also playing at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The High Seas are an acapella band and are so much fun to watch and listen to. Sometimes you will find them performing in the foyer or in the main theater. Quasar is the dance club with a DJ every night. We had lots of fun dancing the night away. Let's not forget the casino onboard with plenty of blackjack, craps and roulette tables. They have many slot machines too. The entire casino is non smoking. I also enjoyed the fitness center which is filled with state of the art cardio and weight training equipment. They also offer yoga, spin and boot camp classes for a small fee. It is clean and well taken care of. Regardless of the time of day, it was never so crowded that you couldn't get the equipment you wanted. There is also an outdoor running track on the ship. Eight times around equals one mile. For families with children, the Kid's Clubs are fantastic. There is an interactive area for kids 6 months to 3 years, where the parents stay with the children. They there are three different areas for kids, broken down into age groups. I was really impressed with the Teen's Club, which included a DJ station, Xbox, games and even had an outdoor sport court. All kids are highly supervised and the kids are always safe. I went to take a tour and they would not let me in while there were kids there. They also have the kids wear wrist bands color coded to their groups. In case there is an emergency onboard, they can be reunited with their parents quickly and efficiently. If you are an art aficionado, you will love the onboard art collection. They even offer self guided iPad tours of all the artwork onboard. They also have an art auction, featuring beautiful work. If you are into shopping, you will be in heaven! There is a Michael Kors store and it is duty and tax free. They have a jewelry store, clothing stores, a cosmetic store and an Apple store. They are all duty and tax free. I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed the ship. In this business we get very spoiled, and I was pleased with everything onboard the Silhouette. They really do it right. Modern Luxury is a wonderful concept and gives guests a perfect opportunity to live onboard in the style they enjoy. Celebrity Cruises is a great value for a high end product.
