Oceania Cruises - The Marina

Oceania has debuted their brand new ship, The Marina- and she was well worth the wait. It is a beautiful, elegant and sophisticated ship in a very modern way. It is considered country club casual and no jackets are required for men at dinner. You will see designer touches everywhere including the Lalique Grand Staircase and Ralph Lauren Decor. Our Ocean View Verandah stateroom was perfect in every way. It was spacious and included floor to ceiling panoramic views where we sat and watched the ocean pass by. We enjoyed breakfast daily on our verandah which was courtesy of their 24-hour room service. What a pleasant and relaxing way to start our day. There is even a mini-bar with complimentary unlimited soft drinks and bottled water. Our stateroom had a Tranquility bed, an exclusive feature to Oceania, that assured us a good night of sleep each night. The bathroom was equipped with a blow dryer, so no need to pack one from home. The bathroom even had a separate shower and tub with luxurious French-Milled toiletries. My husband would not want me to forget to mention that there was a large LCD flat-screen television in our suite and direct dial satellite phone and cellular service. The ship is perfect for people who love dining as there are 10 different dining venues; six of them are gourmet and open-seating with no surcharge. We sampled all of them and one was better than the last. Our favorite specialty restaurant was La Reserve where they take great pride in pairing wine and food for a superlative experience. After dinner each night, we would retreat to one of the many lounges onboard to enjoy an after dinner drink as we reminisced about the days happenings. . One of my favorite onboard activities was the cooking class at the Bon Appetit Culinary Center. This is the only hands-on cooking center at sea. It was interactive and fun as we prepared and enjoyed a meal together. I also took a photography class in the Artist's Loft. They also teach many different art classes here. The renowned Canyon Ranch Spa Club is onboard and is absolutely the best place to relax. I enjoyed a massage, a facial and even had my hair and nails done. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating to each and every one of your needs. I would certainly recommend Oceania Cruises and The Marina to anyone looking for a luxury cruise experience. It is perfect for couples, families with children and multi- generational travelers.
