The Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico

Our Expert Judy Jacobson just returned from a 5-night mini vacation at The Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico. Judy has traveled extensively during her career as a travel agent and this was one of her favorite and most memorable hotel stays. Flying from Los Angeles International Airport to Puerto Vallarta was a breeze for Judy and her husband. When they checked in at the airport, they very casually asked the airline representative if it was possible to get an upgrade. It was available and they were able to upgrade to 1st class for a nominal charge. They took their seats and happily started their journey. After a three hour plane ride and a 45 minute transfer from the Puerto Vallarta airport they arrived at the resort. "Breathtaking" was Judy's first thought as she laid her eyes on the resort. Upon checking in, they were treated like VIP guests. Anytime a guest is linked with a Preferred Partner, such as Frosch Classic Cruise and Travel, they are given the best treatment and special amenities. At The Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico, the amenities include breakfast daily which can be at the restaurant or served in-room, a $100 food and beverage credit and an upgrade if available. The staff is amazing, attentive and warm. They address you by name and really take good care of you. The resort sits on a private beach. As so many beaches in Mexico are filled with people selling their goods, this one is not. It is exclusive for resort guests, making it a relaxing retreat. The resort is pristine. They take very good care of the property and it shows. Judy describes it as "sparkling, gorgeous, stunning and luxurious". Their Ocean-Front Villa included L'occitane amenities, plush bathrobes and slippers, large flat screen television, and mini-bar. The suite has shutters surrounding the windows and when you open them, the room fills with sunlight. Outside the suite is a beautiful and private balcony for your enjoyment. Judy especially enjoyed having her morning coffee on their balcony every day. What a way to start each day in paradise. The rooms also include large closets and spacious bathrooms with separate glass enclosed shower and bathtub. Judy and her group did manage to do some sightseeing and enjoy some local restaurants in Punta Mita. Each time they left the resort, they took the transportation offered from the resort. This was always a luxurious air conditioned SUV. The drivers spoke fluent English and were always punctual. The city is beautiful. The restaurants are wonderful and serve regional cuisine. One meal was better than the last. On property, the restaurants are fabulous. The distinctive flavors of regional Mexican cuisine, along with a range of international favorites, set the tone for restaurant dining at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. For dinner they dined on the freshest fish possible. Whatever is caught that morning is what you get for dinner that night. They always put a spin on the preparation and each night it was a little different. This is not a place where you go to rush through dinner. Each night is a dining experience, giving guests a chance to wind down from the day and enjoy each other's company. When Judy arrived in Mexico, she pulled a muscle in her neck. Anxiously, she went to the spa for a treatment and a little relaxation. She had a 50 minute massage and she described it as heaven on earth. She was not sure if she enjoyed the room or the actual massage better. All in all it made for the perfect experience. After her massage, she enjoyed a sauna, steam and shower and left like a new person. The Apuane Spa means "healing waters". The Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita created this as a tranquil oasis where the cares of the world can be forgotten. Their signature Ha Waye Healing Waters treatment takes place under a multi-head Vichy shower while two therapists work in unison to massage away stress. Sounds like the world can be forgotten with this treatment. If you are a golf enthusiast, there are two courses to choose from. The first is the Bahia and is designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course features stunning lakes and water features, some meandering through multiple holes. The second is the Pacifico. In June 2008, the Pacifico Golf Course at Four Seasons Punta Mita was named the number-one golf course in the world by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler. The Jack Nicklaus designed golf club is set amid vistas of white sand beaches and the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains surrounding Riviera Nayarit. Spread over 200 acres, the course takes advantage of its seaside location. The fitness center on property is large and full of the latest state-of-the-art equipment. There are plenty of cardio machines to choose from along with free weights and lots of resistance training options. There are also Pilates and yoga classes offered. If you feel like getting a little wet during your workout, try a fun and invigorating water aerobics in the resort pool. For Judy, this was so enjoyable that she choose to do the water aerobics daily. It sure was a different way to exercise. This is a great resort for couples seeking a tranquil and serene vacation. They also cater to families as they offer special programs for children of all ages. The Four Seasons really outdoes their reputation on this one.
