Celebrity Cruises Pre-Inaugural Sailing Onboard the Silhouette

I recently had the opportunity to sail on Celebrity Cruises new ship, The Silhouette. This was a pre-inaugural 3-day cruise roundtrip from Bayonne, New Jersey. The ships course was down the coastline to Virginia and back. I had never sailed with Celebrity before and was thrilled to have the opportunity. I was impressed from the moment I stepped onboard until the time I disembarked. After a champagne greeting, we were escorted to our spacious stateroom, which included a verandah with a table and chairs, decor with a modern flair, and a large bathroom. On the ship, there are many places to steal away and enjoy a quiet moment. One of those is The Hideaway where you can sit in a spherical shaped chair and the Sky Observation Lounge with floor to ceiling windows to watch the sea float by. Outside, you can relax in a cabana in The Alcoves, a private retreat on The Lawn Club. We ate in the main dining room for dinner several times and the food was outstanding. There are many options to choose from and all are made with high quality ingredients, tasted amazing and were artfully prepared. I tremendously enjoyed the goat cheese tart served as an appetizer. We sampled panino and salad at The Porch and that was mouthwatering! The last night we dined at The Lawn Grill, which is a fun interactive style restaurant that specializes in flatbread pizza for the appetizer and you actually roll your own dough, pick your toppings and assemble the flatbread. They then cook it for you and bring it to your table. You can choose your meat, fish or chicken and prepare it yourself or have them do it for you. I prepared for myself scallops and shrimp and they paired it with delicious macaroni and cheese. Let me also not to forget to mention that the wine list at the restaurants and lounges is extensive and allows wine lovers to taste new brands and enjoy their favorites. Bailieys and coffee in a private booth overlooking the ocean while listening to jazz music was the perfect ending to our magical evening onboard the Silhouette. The nightly entertainment was excellent. It is a Cirque de Soleil style acrobatic show. The cast is highly talented and it is amazing that they can do these stunts on a moving ship. I did steal away for a moment to do some onboard shopping. A very popular designer, Michael Kors, has a boutique as well as the ILounge, which is the only Apple retail store on the sea. Celebrity is known for their "Modern Luxury". It is a comfortable, classy yet not stuffy experience. They have thought of everything from the design of the ship to the innovative cuisine and entertainment. I highly recommend Celebrity Cruise Lines for those that want quality, value, comfort and style. Modern Luxury at its finest, that is Celebrity Cruises. It is a perfect experience for a couple or a family traveling together.
