Experience Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef

One of our Experts recently sent her clients on a Classic Vacations trip to Lizard Island, in the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard Island is only accessible via a small plane connected through the mainland. Her clients had this to say: "As is our custom, we had a great time. Everything went perfectly well. This trip was different from our past trips, as we did not engage in touristy activities and spent most of our time at the resort with friends. Let me tell you about Lizard Island. If you started to think you might want a specific drink, before you could finish your thought, the drink was there. The service was really great, friendly and helpful. The site is gorgeous. We lucked out with the weather. It had been raining something fierce for weeks before we got there and two days before we arrived, the rain stopped and all we had was sunshine. The water was like a tabletop. Flat, no waves; not even a ripple. They encouraged us to participate in some of the water activities but were not pushy. The staff measured what we would enjoy and provided that for us. My wife said it was the greatest resort to which we have been. Thank you for putting this amazing trip together for us to enjoy". The local Aboriginal people believe Lizard Island was created in the Dreamtime. They see it as a stingray, with Lizard being the body and the other islands forming the tail. Classic Vacations says this, "Beautiful, natural, and wild. Lizard Island is Australia's northernmost resort, located right on the Great Barrier Reef. It is a place reserved for the fortunate few. With 24 white-sand beaches and luxurious accommodations for just 40 couples, Lizard Island is in a category all its own. Guests can snorkel, go deep-sea fishing, or dive at the world-famous Cod Hole just a short boat ride away. You can also discover secluded pristine beaches by foot or motorized dinghy, with a gourmet picnic just for two. Or indulge in the serenity and relaxation of a pampering treatment at the Azure Spa. Dining is one of Lizard Island's many pleasures. Ospreys Restaurant embodies the resort's understated elegance. The menu, which changes daily, is fresh and creative, showcasing the finest local produce and freshest seafood. Watching the sunset, it's easy to be lulled into the deep peace that comes with being in your own beautiful world on Lizard Island.
