La Costa Resort & Spa, Carlsbad, California

Last week I stayed at La Costa Resort & Spa for the weekend.  There were two reasons for my visit… I am booking a conference for a client and I wanted to check out the property to see if it would work for us.  Second, I needed a little rest and relaxation.

After meeting with the General Manager and Group Sales Manager, I toured the property.  This gave me a chance to see the conference/meeting rooms, guest rooms, restaurants, fitness center, spa and the entire property.  We have decided to do our conference there since the property is perfect.  Everything from the conference rooms to guest rooms, menus to availability; it all works for us.  I especially like the fact that the Group Sales Manager is so helpful and really want to make us happy.  She has been so accommodating with our needs; I would highly suggest people to consider La Costa when they need a location for a conference or other event.

As for the rest and relaxation… I sure got it!!!  The first thing I did was schedule a massage at the spa.  The Spa at La Costa is rated #1 in the country and has a 5-star rating.  It is absolutely fabulous.  Before your massage or treatment, make time to experience the relaxation room, sauna and other amenities.  When it is your turn for your massage, you are taken by your therapist through a beautiful flower filled courtyard to the treatment rooms.  It’s just all so beautiful and peaceful.  I enjoyed my massage and can’t wait to go back.  It would even be fun to go for a nice girl’s get-a-way.  They also have wellness and weight-loss programs.

I did use the fitness center, because in my own crazy way, it keeps me relaxed.  I didn’t do any of the classes, but I noticed a great spin class going on while I was there.  There is plenty of workout equipment and everything is state-of-the-art.  It’s very clean and well maintained.

The culinary experience was a great one.  We had dinner at BlueFire Grill and it was fabulous.  We started out with a nice glass of wine and a very tasty cheese plate.  I had a fish dish with brussel sprouts and quinoa… so yummy!!!  I’m not sure what the dessert was called, but it was chocolaty, rich and amazing.  Topped with a little ice cream and a praline cookie and I was happy!!!

Room service for breakfast is the way to go!!!  The presentation was lovely and the food was tasty.  My favorite breakfast is oatmeal with brown sugar and fruit and that is what I ordered.

Our room was great and included a living room, bedroom and a large bathroom.  There was a large soaking tub and separate shower.  Also, there was a separate sink and vanity.

If you are a golfer, you will be happy at La Costa.  Their golf is world-renowned and draws people from all over.  They also have tennis and tennis clinics.

There really is a lot to do here, regardless of your age.  For the little ones, there is a pool complete with slides and other fun things for kids, a large Kid’s Club and plenty of space for the kids to run around.  For adults, of course there is tennis and golf, great restaurants, award-winning spa and so much more.

All I can say is… go there!!!  I’m sure you will really enjoy it.  If you are driving from Los Angeles, it is about 2 hours away.  If you are driving from San Diego, it’s about 30 minutes.  You can fly into San Diego Airport or John Wayne Airport in Orange County.
