Las Vegas and Golf! A Winning Combination

When you have a young child it is a simple thing to decide what to do for their birthday celebration.  But with my son turning 21, I felt challenged to come up with a great idea.  I wanted to do something spectacular, age appropriate as well as build it around a hobby of his.  After some serious thought, I came up with a plan.  Why not take him and a few of his friends to Las Vegas for a weekend of golf, fun and celebrating?

So many hotels, so many choices.  I didn’t want to pick just one, so I decided we would stay two nights at two hotels.

The first hotel we stayed at was Caesar’s Palace.  Yes, we did get the Hangover Suite.  The boys had a blast talking about the movie and remembering details of what they did in the same suite we stayed in.  They laughed for hours.

While they did that, I indulged in the hotel spa.  I spent hours there enjoying the spa facilities and then indulged in a 90 minute massage.  I decided at that point that I would have a massage at each hotel we stayed at on our trip.  This was a great start!

Jason’s actual birthday was the first day of the trip, so I decided to take them out for a great meal.  One of our favorite restaurants is Joe’s Stonecrabs and they are located in the Caesar’s Forum Shops, which is attached to the hotel.  After the boys had several drinks, steaks, stonecrabs, French fries and the most delicious chocolate cake with a candle in it, they decided to head out to the clubs.  That was when I went back to the hotel room and went to bed.  I don’t want to know the details, but I did hear they had a great time and visited each and every bar, club and lounge in Caesar’s Palace.

The next day the boys and I were off to golf.  The weather was perfect and we were so excited to see what the course was all about.  Cassata Golf Course is designed by Rees Jones and is fabulous.  It is not at the hotel, but is located just a short distance away.  The landscaping is spectacular and it makes for a very nice experience.  The par-72 course provides stunning vistas at every turn, including the 3,600-foot peak at Red Mountain, lush fairways, and streams.  Glass A PGA professionals attend to your equipment and players are accompanied on-course by a tour-class caddy.  We had a blast!

We said good bye to Caesar’s Palace and hello to the Paris Hotel.  I have stayed here many times before, but it is entirely a different experience when you travel with young people, especially those that have never been to Las Vegas before.

The first thing we did after checking in was to take a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower.  Great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Las Vegas.  You get the most breathtaking view of the strip and the surrounding area.  It is a perfect replica of the real Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and is 46 stories high.  Their knowledgeable Ambassadors point out unforgettable Las Vegas landmarks at the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.

After that, the boys went to do some gaming, and I headed off to the Mandara Spa, for my special time.  Another unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to go back.  At the Paris Spa by Mandara, you can enjoy a full array of massage, facial and body treatments as well as a full salon with hair and nail service.  I decided to go with a facial this time and was definitely not disappointed with that decision.  It was an hour of pure bliss for me followed with 10 minutes in the spa.  I was feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated.

I went back to the room, picked up the boys and headed off to Bon Ami Gabi.  This beautiful French inspired restaurant is casual, serves wonderful food and has seating indoors and outdoors.  The outdoor patio is the perfect spot for dining and people watching.  Our timing was perfect and just as our dinner was being served; the dancing fountains show at the Bellagio was just starting.  We had the perfect view across the street.  Again, some of the boys had not seen the show and were very impressed.  After dinner, we made a quick trip to the Sugar Factory for some ice cream and candy to top off our perfect evening.

We all had a total blast!  Between the golf, restaurants, gambling and celebrating it was the perfect vacation.  Thank you to Las Vegas for being the perfect spot for celebrations of all kinds. We will be back, that is for sure.
