Uniworld River Cruises - River Tosca

My favorite cruise was onboard Uniworld's River Tosca in Egypt. It has the largest cabins and bathrooms of any of the ships I have traveled on. In each stateroom, the bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub, which is unheard of on river cruise ships. The ship also has a beautiful swimming pool on the top deck and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights. The staff is courteous and attends to all of your needs. One of the most enriching experiences of river cruising is the shore excursions, which are included in your cruise fare. Many of them are walking tours of the small villages, which really lets you get a feel for the daily life and the culture of the region. Guests are usually broken down into groups depending on how active they are, so no one feels like they can't keep up. My favorite outing was having breakfast with a family in their own home located in the small village of Uglich in Russia. We were lucky enough to visit many private homes to see and experience how families in Russia live. No one spoke English, but this did not prove to be a problem. The people are so warm and welcoming and had us dancing to Russian music! The most memorable meal was the Egyptian banquet we had onboard the river cruise. The guests and staff dressed in Egyptian attire, which we bought at reasonable prices at the ship's onboard store. The meal was amazing and we enjoyed one Egyptian delicacy after another. The nightlife is quiet compared to the big ships. Entertainment is usually local singers and dancers brought onboard to highlight the folk culture of the country you are visiting. Another wonderful thing about the small ship atmosphere is that you get to know the other passengers and share stories with them at meals and in the evenings. I highly recommend river cruising for those who want an intimate, all-inclusive, port intensive cruise.
