Zambia

Zambia is home to the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO designated world heritage site.  The Victoria Falls at Livingstone, Zambia, and Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe was also the venue for the 2013 United Nations World Tourism Organization General Assembly.

Situated in Southern Africa, Zambia offers a truly authentic African Holiday experience, where the only thing that gets spoiled is you.  The more you explore this naturally beautiful country, the more you realize how much more the country has to offer.  Zambia is the land of the legendary walking safari, offering Africa’s best on-foot-wildlife experience; the wild Zambezi river, breathtaking lakes and wetlands, a profusion of birds and abundant wildlife spread over 20 national parks and 36 games management areas.  Zambia also has some of the most pristine wilderness with about a third of the country’s total land mass reserved for wildlife and conservation.

The Victoria Falls is the largest curtain of falling water in the world, dropping 550,000 cubic meters of water per second at peak, providing a must-see spectacle which the great explorer David Livingstone could only describe thus “By far the finest sight I have seen in Africa”.  Another explorer come reporter Henry Morton Stanley, upon seeing the Victoria Falls in 1872, sent a message back to his newspaper in America with the simple words, “I have seen Victoria Falls, sell Niagara”.

The home town of this world heritage site is appropriately called Livingstone, the tourist capital of Zambia, which boasts modern award-winning accommodations and a host of exciting activities around the waterfalls and the Zambezi river ranging from the adrenaline rush – abseiling, micro lighting, bungee jumping, white-water rafting, a walk with the lions, to the more serene game viewing and sunset cruises on the Zambezi River.

The Zambian people are friendly and peaceful and no wonder the country continues to be an oasis of peace with no history of war or political strife since independence.  The country has a thriving democracy with peaceful change of successive Governments making it one of Africa’s shinning beacons.

Despite the impact of western influence, Zambia has a rich and diverse cultural heritage anchored in the country’s 72 tribes reflected in over 30 traditional ceremonies occurring annually.  To experience these ceremonies is to be a privileged witness to the tradition, rhythm and beat of Africa.

On the economic front, Zambia is one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investments with annual economic growth of about 7 percent consistently over the past six years, making it one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.  Investment opportunities abound in the tourism, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.  The mining sector has also attracted a lot of big investors.  Apart from being one of the largest copper producers in the world, the country is endowed with an array of some of the finest precious stones such as emeralds and amethyst.

Zambia is waiting to welcome you.  So, plan a trip and start exploring!
